Kerr and supporters pedal through the rain

Earlier this month, state Sen. Andy Kerr, D-Lakewood, got an enthusiastic group of folks together to support his bid for re-election, including special guest U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-CD 7. The Sept. 15 event was fun — and wet.

The entire group poses before the ride. Cyclists include Congressman Ed Perlmutter, Sen. Andy Kerr, Rep. Max Tyler, Rep. Mike Foote, Lakewood city councilor Tom Quinn, Golden city councilor Bob Vermeulen, Travis Berry, Tim Jackson and Dan Grunig.

The athletically fit Kerr led the group on a two-hour trek through some strong winds and rain, up and down hills throughout Jefferson County. As rigorous as it was, it might seem like easy sledding as he gets set to confront Mario Nicolais, his spirited Republican challenger, in 2014. The attorney spearheaded Coloradans for Freedom, a Republican organization that backed the civil unions bill earlier this year, and has been on the campaign trail for several months now. Tony Sanchez is also running in the Republican primary to unseat incumbent Kerr in SD 22.
